Research and development, education and innovation go hand in hand

 

The economic area Hof has turned into an interesting location for technology and innovation, particularly through the advanced technical college. This good environment for technology and innovation is directly supported and developed further by the Council of Hof and the Free State of Bavaria. A close interlocking of the facilities, science and the technology transfer create additional benefit for the companies. An essential part of this environment is the numerous networks between Companies and technology providers. They boost the development of the economic area Hof.

The advanced technical college in Hof shows a highly dynamic development regarding its courses of studies as well as the rooms and technical equipment.

It offers degrees in business management, international management, IT economics, sales engineering, technical IT and materials and surface engineering; textile engineering and design at the location Münchberg. Special MBA degrees complete the range. The advanced technical college in Hof is an important technology pulse generator and partner of the economy through

The trade council of Bavaria in Hof provides a large number of services. They range from static and material testing to technology transfer (technological and innovation advice for medium-sized businesses). Furthermore, it offers patent research, information about state-of-the-art technology and the use of specialist information systems and operates as an interpreter of standards.

The high-tech offensive of Bavaria turns northern Bavaria into a materials engineering area. Through the competence center New Materials and the faculty for applied sciences at the University of Bayreuth the location Hof with its facilities and corporations is involved in this integrated system.

And this creates the links to the new degrees in materials engineering at the advanced technical college in Hof and to Kekutex, the new innovation center for ceramics, plastics and textile in the region of Hof.

It bundles up the know-how of the numerous local plastics, textile and ceramics manufacturers in the area of research, technology and training and develops it further in co-operation with the college.

The institute of automotive technology of Bavaria at the automotive suppliers’ park Pole-Position provides new important input in the field of automotive supply as a leading project of the Free State of Bavaria and the area HochFranken/Hof. Suppliers can run their own R&D projects at this institute and can use the extended state-of-the-art facilities for co-operational test projects. At the same time, the institute bundles up the know-how of all Upper Franconian colleges and R&D facilities in the field of automotive supply.
