City cycling 2024 - now even bigger!

Big impact throughout the region - city cycling campaign for the first time in cooperation with the districts of Wunsiedel, Hof, Tirschenreuth and the city of Hof

Saale cycle path celebrates anniversary

The districts of Wunsiedel i. Fichtelgebirge, Hof, Tirschenreuth and the city of Hof are planning to carry out the popular city cycling campaign in close cooperation for the first time. The joint 21-day campaign period is set to start on June 9 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Saaleradweg and end on June 29, 2024. The campaign, which has already taken place successfully several times in the region and is popular with schools, businesses and citizens alike, is to be given even greater significance through this cooperation.

"City cycling is already a success story. It's all the better that the neighboring districts of Hof and Tirschenreuth and the city of Hof are now also taking part," says Peter Berek, District Administrator of the Wunsiedel i. Fichtelgebirge district. "In this way, we are raising public awareness of the bicycle as an ecological and healthy means of transportation. I am looking forward to the number of participants and the total number of kilometers ridden in this large network and would like to thank our neighbors for their participation."

Valuable prizes await

The City Cycling campaign challenges the entire region to leave the car at home for three weeks and cover as many everyday and leisure routes as possible by bike. This not only promotes personal health and contributes to climate protection goals, but also strengthens the sense of community. The campaign remains exciting from start to finish thanks to the playful competition between the participating teams and municipalities. High-quality prizes from regional sponsors are also up for grabs. Registration is open from April 2024.

For climate and health

District Administrator of Hof, Dr. Oliver Bär: "With city cycling, you are not only doing something for the environment, but also for yourself, your own health and your team spirit. And: cycling is the best way to discover our beautiful region. We therefore invite everyone to pedal together. Every kilometer counts." Mayor Eva Döhla from Hof adds: "City cycling is a great initiative that not only promotes our health, but also contributes to climate awareness. By cycling together, we show that sustainable mobility is possible in our city. In addition, city cycling strengthens the sense of unity and community in our region."

This joint initiative emphasizes the strong commitment to climate protection and sustainable mobility in the entire region - the Fichtelgebirge, the Hofer Land and the Stiftland. We invite all residents, schools, businesses and clubs to join this campaign. Let's pedal together and set an example for the mobility of the future! Roland Grillmeier, District Administrator of Tirschenreuth, also joins this call: "Tirschenreuth is a cycling district, which is why we are naturally happy to be involved. Fun for the citizens, benefits for the environment and the further development of bicycle traffic all play together wonderfully here. I look forward to the active participation of all cycling enthusiasts and those who want to become one."
