Ludwigstrasse and Maxplatz are set to change

Feasibility study on the future of public space

Background

The Ludwigstraße/Maxplatz district is being intensively examined as part of a feasibility study. Based on an analysis of the current situation (e.g. with the help of a traffic count) and in dialogue with citizens, possible development scenarios are being developed for the inner-city quarter, which is characterized by stores and public facilities on the one hand, but also by public space, traffic areas and residential areas that need to be designed on the other. The city of Hof is being supported by the Adlerolsch architecture firm from Nuremberg. The aim is to upgrade the district and increase the quality of the public space. This includes greening measures, a reorganization of moving and parked traffic and the design of quiet areas. The public space should become an attractive place to spend time for all users.

The Hofer have their say

Three scenarios discussed in workshops

The procedure

Adlerolsch Landschaftsarchitekten GmbH was commissioned to develop three future scenarios for the neighborhood based on extensive analyses. These were presented at the first citizens' workshop and discussed intensively with the many residents of Hof who attended. Based on the citizens' assessments, the three variants were further developed and presented in a second citizens' workshop. Once again, the scenarios were the subject of lively discussion.

Two workshops were also held with pupils from Hof's Jean-Paul-Gymnasium. Here, the city of Hof broke new ground and involved young people in the transformation of a specific urban district in a very concrete way. After all, it is the younger generations who will shape their lives in the city of Hof in the future. After a photo campaign in the district and a subsequent discussion, initial ideas crystallized. These were subsequently built and visualized as models. As a first impulse, one of the young people's ideas for the redesign of Maxplatz will be temporarily implemented next year. The city of Hof will provide a small budget for this. The young people will then lend a hand themselves and realize their ideas.

Based on this participation, the commissioned office will complete the feasibility study. It can then serve as a basis for the further development of the neighborhood. The final decisions will be made by the Hof City Council.

Current status

Here you will find the planning team's presentation on the 2nd planning workshop. Please note: This is not the final planning, but a working status that will be subject to further change following the feedback from the workshop.
